A new café-bistro has opened its doors in Belper.

Godfreys, on Gregorys Way, welcomed its first customers last weekend ( Saturday January 18).

The business is the second to bear the Godfrey’s name - the original eatery being located in Town Street, Duffield since 1999.

Owner, Gregory Broadbent, who has run Godfreys for the last seven years said the Belper cafe would be offering full English breakfasts and a range of other fare throughout the day - including a selection of foods geared towards people on lunch breaks from work.

He said: “We’ve been thinking for a while about opening another café, but it had to be right.

“As a long-term resident in Belper, I know there are not a lot of amenities up here and, more importantly, we felt there was a demand for our style of café on the Belper estate.

“The first intrepid customers to the new café, said: “Lovely breakfast as usual; really looking forward to coming back,” and “Isn’t it lovely – everyone’s been talking about it.’

“People here are down to earth, honest and cheerful. Our staff will fit right in!

“For a great cup of coffee – with all the trimmings – and super friendly, caring staff, it’s definitely worth a trip. Even if you don’t live in Belper, sheer value for money might ensure you find your way there.”
