Governors needed to represent patients

A final call has gone out for people who can represent patients in Amber Valley and Belper on a new NHS council.

Seventeen people will be elected to serve on the first ever Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Trust council of governors.

The trust, which manages Babington Hospital in Belper, is setting up the new body to oversee the Trust’s patient care as it heads towards becoming a new NHS Foundation Trust.

Six of the new governors will be elected from the Amber Valley and Erewash areas.

The election will take place during February and early March, but nominations need to be submitted by January 17.

Trust Secretary Kirsteen Farrar said: “We would urge anyone with an interest in their local NHS care to consider getting involved as a governor. It is not too late for individuals to put themselves forward. They don’t need any special qualifications, just a desire to get involved and help us to ensure services are the best they can be for patients.”

For more information phone David Boddy or Kirsteen Farrar at Derbyshire on 01773 824171.
