Great grades at GCSE for Belper teens

This year was set to be another record year for GCSE results, and it was no exception at Belper School

With dozens of students achieving the coveted A and A star grades in their summer exams, there was no question that the school had done at least as well as normal, if not better.

Smiles, laughter and screaming were all par for the course at the school when they students picked up their results yesterday.

One pair who were particularly thrilled with their great grades were identical twins Ellie and Rosie Benson.

The duo, who live at Laund Farm Mews, totted up 15 A* and 6 A grades.

They are both planning to stay on at the school's sixth form to study maths, further maths, history and French.

Ellie said: "I'm really pleased. We're very happy for each other."

Twins Laurie and Adam Illingworth also made the grade, with results sheets full of A*, A and B grades.

Laurie said: "I think we did all right."

Ellen Bennett, 16, who achieved all As, said: "I'm happy."

The overall results were not available when the News went to press, but headteacher Trevor Harding said they looked around the same as last year.

He added: "I'm very pleased with the results.

"We have some very good individual performances."
