Water company Severn Trent says it will try to minimise the effect on residents during the four-year renovation of Ambergate Reservoir.
Project manager for the company, Duncan Wratten, said a liaison group with residents is being set-up to work through any issues.
He said: “A project of this size will have impact on the local community. We obviously want to minimise that.”
Amber Valley planning board members approved a plan to shut down the existing 92-year-old reservoir and build a new one beside it on Monday, October 15.
