A husband and wife team from Belper-based technology firm, TBS Enterprise Mobility, will be donning their lycra this June to cycle from London to Paris in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

Steve (55) and Gill Reynolds (50) have been training intensely ahead of a gruelling but rewarding challenge for charity, ‘London | Paris – Be Unstoppable’, which involves cycling 500km in just 4 days.

The pair are already well on their way to achieving a combined fundraising target of £4,000, but are urging people to get behind them and give what they can for this worthy cause. A collection tin is being held at The Black Swan pub on Belper’s Market Place, and donations can also be made online via www.justgiving.co.uk.

Steve, who is managing director at TBS Enterprise Mobility, said: “We all will be, or have been, in some way affected by cancer; I personally have lost 3 family members to this terrible disease – which inspired me to help beat blood cancers by taking part in this event. This will be the biggest and toughest physical challenge I have ever undertaken, and quite frankly, it’s going to hurt!”

Gill and Steve began an arduous training regime in November 2013, clocking up the miles come rain or shine in preparation for a punishing 4 consecutive days of 125km bike rides.

Gill added: “I am doing this ride for the 30,000 people in the UK who are diagnosed with blood cancer every year and for the people I have loved and lost to cancer. I am enormously grateful to be fit and healthy and to feel that I have a good chance of completing this challenge. I will not give in. I may not be the fastest cyclist out there but I intend to be unstoppable! So please give what you can, every penny will help.”

The cycle route begins in London on 19 June and takes the riders on the roads of Kent and Northern France under professional race conditions, pushing their mental and physical endurance to the limits, before they cross the finish line in Paris on 22 June.
