Job centre assault - Ripley man arrested

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Alfreton.

Anthony Helps, from Ripley, appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield on Saturday, February 2, charged with serious wounding.

The 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody.

Police were called to the Job Centre, King Street, at around 10am on Thursday, January 31 following reports of an altercation.

A 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and remains in the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to contact Derbyshire police on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
