Job centre assault - Ripley man arrested

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Alfreton.

Anthony Helps, from Ripley, appeared before magistrates in Chesterfield on Saturday, February 2, charged with serious wounding.

The 24-year-old man has been remanded in custody.

Police were called to the Job Centre, King Street, at around 10am on Thursday, January 31 following reports of an altercation.

A 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries during the incident and remains in the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham.
