Dole queues shrank in Derbyshire by a total of 150 people last month, national statistics show.
The total amount of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance in December was 10,285 - the lowest number in Derbyshire since October, 2008, when the figure was 10,203.
The figures also show that since December 2012, the number of jobseekers overall has gone down by 6,576 across the county.
Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive George Cowcher said: “These figures are once again positive and provide further evidence that the economy has turned a corner, the recovery is strengthening and business confidence is improving.
“However, politicians and policymakers cannot afford to be complacent.”
