Belper rail commuters are able to reach London faster thanks to a slight improvement in journey times.
On Monday, December 9, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin officially launched East Midlands Trains’ new timetable which reduces the average journey time between Derby and London by four minutes to one hour 39 minutes.
The improvement is the result of a £70 million investment programme.
Mr McLoughlin said: “The work that has been carried out is important not just in terms of improving journey times but preparing for the forthcoming electrification of the Midland Main Line.”
The fastest journey will be one hour 29 minutes from Derby to London. Belper to Derby takes around 12 minutes.
