KFC looking into Belper move
Belper could be set for another fast foot outlet if fried chicken restaurant KFC follows through on plans to move into the town.
The company announced this week that it was looking into opening up to 300 new restaurants across the UK in the next three years, and Belper was one of the locations being considered.
If a KFC was built, it would join McDonalds, Subway and Domino's Pizza franchises already in the town.
Possible premises for the new restaurant have not been revealed, but a spokesman for the company said it was looking at sites 'on the main shopping street or near a retail area.'
KFC's chief executive Martin Shuker said: "We are delighted to announce that we will be opening 200 to 300 new restaurants across the UK in the next three to five years, creating up to 9,000 new jobs.
"We can confirm that we are currently looking for suitable sites in Belper to open a restaurant which would create up to 30 full and part-time jobs in the local community."
There are currently around 3,000 KFC outlets in the UK.
