Entry for Specsavers Life Thru the Lens competition. By Clive Slack, of Belper.

A classic view of the River Gardens boats and a close-up of a Smalley mushroom were among the somewhat contrasting entries in our Life Thru the Lens mailbox this week.

Clive Slack, 57, of Lowlands Road, Belper submitted the gardens shot, while Kate Bowyer, 36, of Smalley sent in the fungal-themed photo.

They are both in with a chance of scooping a prize in our annual FREE competition when we ask readers to take pictures in and around the Belper area of well known views or landscapes, or something that captures the town’s rich history – in essence we want you to show us what living in the Belper area means to you.

Each year we team up with our sponsors at Specsavers opticians in King Street, Belper, who provide a top prize of the latest camera for our winner.

It’s free to enter our contest too. Send your entries – two per person only – to us by email at editor@belpernews.co.uk. You must mark them ‘Life Thru the Lens entry’ and include your full name, age, full address and day and evening phones numbers. You also need to tell us where your picture was taken.

Entries must have been taken during the last year. They must be your own work and not computer manipulated.

Copyright of entries is the Belper News’.

You can send in hard copy pictures too. You can drop them off at our FREE community postbox at News Corner newsagents, King Street, opposite the Market Place.
