Lorry driver may be charged after crash

A three vehicle crash closed an Ilkeston road on Wednesday afternoon for three hours.

The Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance was called after a Volvo lorry, Peugeot 207 and Nissan Micra were involved in the collision on the A6096 near Dale Abbey.

The lorry driver, a 29-year-old from Belper, was reported on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A decision will be made after investigations conclude as to whether he will be charged.

The Nissan Micra ended up down an embankment at the side of the road as a result of the incident.

One driver was airlifted to the Queen’s Medical Centre but a police spokesman said that no one involved suffered serious or life changing injuries.

Any witnesses to the incident which happened at 3.45pm, can call police on 101.
