Man arrested after collision with two police cars

A man has been arrested after the car he was driving collided with two police cars.

At around 7.15pm on Sunday, November 11 a Volkswagen Polo was seen being driven erratically on the A38 northbound towards Ripley.

Police began following the car which failed to stop for officers.

It was forced to stop on Nottingham Road at the junction of Oakland Street in Alfreton and two police vehicles suffered minor damage during the incident.

The driver left the car and officers followed him on foot.

The 21-year-old man was arrested nearby.

The car had been reported stolen from an address in Nottinghamshire.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to call Derbyshire police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
