Man jailed for sex assault on girl
a FORMER Idridgehay man has been jailed for four years for a sex assault on a child.
Steven Pike, 43, who now lives in Herefordshire, had pleaded guilty to sexual activity with a female child under the age of 16 when he appeared at a court hearing in Derby in December.
He spent Christmas in prison awaiting sentence, which happened on Friday, February 3, at Derby Crown Court.
His victim cannot be named for legal reasons.
The assault happened on May 16, 2010, although Pike had denied it until his court appearance in December.
At that hearing, the court heard that Pike knew his victim was under the age of 16.
He left Derbyshire not long after the attack and had been on bail since late summer, 2010.
At his sentencing, Pike was also put on the Sexual Offenders’ Register indefinitely and disqualified from working with children.
A sexual offences provision order was also made.
