THERE’S a chance to work off some of the excesses of Christmas and learn about one of the East Midlands’ most historic communities this Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Strutt’s North Mill at Belper has planned two heritage walks which will give people a chance to get some gentle exercise and learn why Belper is the only town in the region with World Heritage Status.
At 2pm on Thursday December 26, from the mill, there will be a guided walk of the historic town, revealing some of its lesser-known historic stories.
At the same time and same starting point on Wednesday January 1, there’ll be a different walk, including a look at the River Gardens.
Manager of the museum Sarah Skinner said: “We’ve been delighted with the success of our festive walks in recent years, so we’re pleased to offer two more this year on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.”
Both walks cost £4 per person, and will include a warm drink and light refreshments in the mill to finish off the journey. No booking is needed – just turn up on either day.
Strutt’s North Mill will be open from 1pm to 5pm on both days, and every Saturday and Sunday through the winter months.
