A woman accused of the murder of Belper pensioner Sandra Bainbridge has appeared in court via video link.
Andrea Cutler, 37, was brought before Michael Stokes QC,Honorary Recorder for the City of Nottingham via a TV screen at the city’s crown court on Wednesday, January 8.
She sat in front of a prison guard in a private room at Bronzefield prison in Middlesex during the hearing and spoke to confirm her name, calling Judge Stokes “my lord”. A number of her family and friends watched the proceedings from the public gallery of the court.
A plea and case management hearing was set for March 17 at Nottingham.
Cutler is charged with committing the murder of Ms Bainbridge, 70, at her Short Row home on Tuesday, December 10.
Following the incident, Derbyshire Police urged people in the town to help them piece together the circumstances leading up to Ms Bainbridge’s death.
An inquest into her death has been opened and adjourned at Derby and South Derbyshire Coroners’ Court.
A post-mortem examination has been carried out by a Home Office pathologist. The area around the house was cordoned off following the death.
