New arts collective to stage roadshows and link with USA

A group of artists have formed a new collective in Belper.

The Belper Arts Collaborative has been set up to provide a focal point for artists and makers within the town and the surrounding area.

One of the co-ordinating committee Suzanne Parnell said their aims were to offer a structured guide to what was happening in the arts community, promote the work of the town’s artists and pursue the idea of providing studio and gallery space for creatives and to benefit the town’s community.

They will also be organising the art strand as part of the first Belper Arts Festival in May among the highlights will be an art exhibition, workshops and an art auction at the Lion Hotel in Belper on May 12.

They will also be linking with Creative Derbyshire to stage roadshows in the town and linking with a similar arts collaborative in Belper’s twin town of Pawtucket in America.

You can follow the group on Twitter by searching for @belperarts and also on Facebook.
