Opera singer strikes a chord with pupils

editorial image

Parents were transported to London’s glittering West End with a production of musical hits by Belper’s Pottery Primary School Choir - leaving the audience spellbound. The performance, the culmination of a day-long series of singing workshops led by classically trained opera singer, Nicola Dunne, included favourites from The Sound of Music, Cats and more. Belper-based Miss Dunne, now a singing and music teacher in the town, has toured Europe with the Diva Opera Company, sung with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and appeared on stage with world renowned tenor, Jose Carreras. Pottery School teacher Sarah Morrison said: “The children love singing and were incredibly excited.”
