Patrols help cut
anti-social issues

Anti-social behaviour in Amber Valley has been cut by 10 per cent in under a year, according to new figures.

Statistics show there were 5,032 incidents from April 1, 2012 to February 6, 2013, compared to 5,999 during the same periodthe previous year.

A number of initiatives including tackling anti-social drinking at Belper Fair have been credited with bringing about the improvement.

Councillor Chris Short, Cabinet Member for Safe and Secure Places to Live at the borough council said: “The majority of young people are respectful and considerate but the CSP team work hard all the time, particularly with the minority of young people who are likely to become involved in antisocial behaviour, to head it off before it begins. A combination of partnership working, robust policing, increased police presence and activities for young people through the Youth Service has helped us to achieve this.”

Sergeant Dave Harrison said: “We are committed to continuing our work alongside partnership agencies with the aim of keeping levels low.”
