Derbyshire police’s oldest staff member says she has no plans to retire despite recently turning 70.
Former traffic warden Sue Meakin began her career in 1975, making a name for herself by ticketing the Chief Constable’s car after just two months of service.
During her many years with the force, Sue has had some memorable experiences. On one patrol she ran into a burning house and helped rescue a blind elderly woman.
Now, she has been presented with a commendation during a presentation at St Mary’s Wharf police station in Derby.
She said of her career: “I’ve loved every minute.”
