Rachel takes on 30 charity challenges to mark 30th birthday
A special educational needs teacher from Cromford is attempting to complete 30 challenges before turning 30 to raise funds for a charity that campaigns for deafblind children and adults.
Rachel Buckley has marked off most goals on her bucket list. She’s already been to Africa, gone on safari, taken a helicopter ride, swam with giant sea turtles and snowboarded in South America.
Now she is inviting people to suggest challenges she can undertake for the Sense charity before she hits the milestone next May in return for a donation.
There are only two rules: “safety comes first and the cost shouldn’t outweigh the sum raised”.
“The reason I chose Sense is because I’ve always been interested in the work the charity does. I’m hearing impaired myself – I wear a hearing aid in one ear, and have discovered in recent years just how much I rely on my sight. I lip read more than I realise and watch people constantly for visual clues.”
To nominate your own challenge for Rachael or sponsor an existing one visit: www.justgiving.com/30before30sense or text SENS84 plus the amount to 70070. The money raised will help deafblind children and adults overcome isolation.
