Two charities are to split £390 following a fundraiser to mark World Heritage Day in Belper.

Youth charity, the Drop Inn Centre, Belper, and a Swiss charity that helps support women in desperate circumstances were presented with the cash after an event held on Berkins Court as part of the town’s Discovery Days Festival.

As well as exhibitions, an open house, wash day experience residents sold refreshments, bric and brac and crafts to generate the money.

It will be used to help a needy family in the Bosnian town of Derwenta and to support Drop Inn projects. Residents are now planning to raise more funds by staging a music concert next year.
