New sculpture is unveiled in Belper River Gardens

A ‘unique’ bronze sculpture has been officially unveiled at Belper River Gardens, after its creator gifted it to the town.

The piece by local sculptor Rachel Carter, was first displayed at the 100th RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2013 and was madeby hand weaving wax which was then cast into bronze.

It was unveiled by Amber Valley Deputy Mayor Mark Robertson during a ceremony at the gardens on Tuesday, March 25.

Rachel said: “Permanent sculptures are not usually allowed to be installed on World Heritage Sites so this is very unusual and a great honour for me. It is also a way for me to give something back to the community that has supported me for so long.”
