Severn Trent’s water champions celebrate Volunteers’ Week

Have your say

Water firm Severn Trent will be helping to mark Volunteers’ Week, which begins today (June 1).

It is an annual celebration of all those fantastic people who work in the local community for free and one year on from the launch of the Water Champions scheme, Severn Trent Water celebrates the work of its volunteers.

Thanks to the Water Champions, across the Midlands almost 5,000 pupils and adults at 30 schools and community centres are now benefiting from water efficient gardens. More than 450 volunteers from Severn Trent Water and its contract partners – including Laing O’Rourke, Amey, NMCNomenca and MWH – have collectively worked almost more than 4,500 hours to create a fun and stimulating outdoor environment, to help people learn about the water cycle and water efficiency.
