Soaring over the skies of Milford village

This stunning aerial shot over the skies of Milford is the latest entry for our Life Thru the Lens competition.

Taken by Mike Thomson you can clearly see a train racing by in the background with the RIver Derwent snaking around the back of the village.

Mr Thomson, of Shaw Lane, Milford captured the scene during a first flight with Derby Aero Club.

Also entered this week were snaps of a snowy tree line in Newbridge Road, Ambergate submitted by Jan Sheppard and a mirror image photo of the Derwent in Belper taken by Julian Varney.

We’ve teamed up with Specsavers in the town for the third year running to find the best amateur photographers in the Belper area, with the winner receiving the latest digital SLR camera.

Anyone can enter the competition – you don’t have to have a top of the range camera or brand new kit, just an eye for a great shot – you could even take them on your phone!

We want to see pictures which get to the heart of what the Belper area is all about, in your opinion.

We want you to show us how beautiful the town and surrounding villages really are.

It could be the history behind the mills, the community spirit which brings the Strutts Centre to life, or a fun event in the River Gardens.

The limit is your imagination!

Winning this competition could be a dream come true for any amateur snapper wanting to become that little bit more proficient at their art — because of the fantastic first prize.

Up for grabs is a £300 Canon digital camera.

Second prize is a digital camera worth £100, while third prize is a £50 voucher for glasses at Specsavers.

Whatever you choose as your inspiration, make sure you get your entries in to be in with a chance of winning.

You can submit as many entries as you like, with the winners to be determined by our judges.

Entries can be sent by email to editor@belpernews.co.uk in jpeg format.

Hard copies can also be sent to Belper News, 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8ER or dropped off in our community postbox at News Corner, King Street.

You can also submit your photo’s on our Facebook group or send it as a Tweet to @belperlatest

However you send your entry you must include, your full name, address, and day and evening contact phone numbers.

Be sure to tell us where you took the picture.
