Spate of bin fires

Fire crews were called to four fires in recycling bins over the weekend.

On Saturday at 6.20am Alfreton was called to Green Hill Lane in Riddings to put out a large recycling bin on fire.

At 2.30pm a small fire was started in a waste paper bin on Fletcher Street in Heanor. Canvas buckets and a water back pack were used to extinguish the flames and police were informed of possible malicious ignition.

Crews were called out again to a recycling bin fire on the High Street in Heanor at 8pm on Saturday. Alfreton were called to a recycling bin on Park Side Drive in Codnor Park at 5.30am on Sunday.
