Student’s epic Everest quest

A Belper teenager is hoping to raise more than £1,300 for soldier’s charity Help for Heroes by taking on a climb-up Everest.Shannon Booth, 19, is flying to Nepal to tackle the gruelling challenge which is expected to take around 11 days in August.The former Belper School student, who lives on Sandbed Lane, is hoping to reach Everest base camp and also the summit of 5,545 metre high Kala Patthar during her epic journey. She said: “I knew I wanted to go as soon as I heard about the expedition - not only is it a once in a life time opportunity but it is also raising a huge amount of money for such a wonderful cause.”
