Imperial War Museum archives provided the inspiration for a public art exhibition by Belper School students. Year eight students produced portraits of soldiers from World War One before displaying them at Number 28 Community Hall on Market Place. One of the artists, Megan Harris (pictured), said: “I didn’t know much about World War One before I started this project. I was really shocked at the number of men, many of them very young, who died during the conflict. I have done a pencil drawing of my soldier, George, and have added a letter which he might have written to his girlfriend.”
