Tack problem by cemetery

Police are appealing for information after reports of upholstery tacks being left on a lane in Somercotes.

Officers have received three calls since April 2012 at the lane, known as Drunken Close, which runs alongside the cemetery off Albert Road.

The latest incident was reported on Wednesday, January 2 after tacks had to be removed, and repairs carried out, on the tyres of a car which had used the track.

PCSO Richard Plant of the Somercotes and Riddings Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “The track is used by local dog walkers, horse riders and for access to stables and while we’re unsure about a possible motive, there is no doubt that this activity has the potential to cause damage to vehicles or injuries to anyone using it.

“We would ask anyone with information about these incidents to contact us.”

Police are also liaising with the local council to ensure any waste is removed.

Anyone with information should contact Derbyshire police on 101, the non emergency number, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
