Tasty treats at Denby Pottery

Denby pottery may be best known for its tableware, but the weekend saw the iconic firm showcasing food to put on its classic crockery.

The annual Summer Food and Gift Fair took place at the Derby Road factory and visitor centre this bank holiday weekend, and foodies from miles around flocked to the site to see what was on offer.

Visitors enjoyed all things sweet and savoury at the event, much of which was provided by local suppliers, most of whom were from Derbyshire.

Cooking demonstrations were also held throughout the weekend, and customers got the chance to browse in the craft marquee, which was home to 22 stalls for the weekend, and take tours of the craftroom at the Pottery.

Younger food fans also got the chance to enjoy the day while mum and dad were sampling gastronomic delights, as the Denby Pottery beach was set up throughout the weekend.

Deckchairs were out and sandcastles were the order of the day as people played in the sand and made the most of the seaside atmosphere.

Entertainment was also on offer during the three-day event, with Punch and Judy making an appearance on the beach, and the Derek Ford

Dixieland Jazz Band providing a relaxed and sophisticated backdrop to the event on Bank Holiday Monday.

Children could also get their faces painted, giving a real family atmosphere to the event.

Denby marketing manager Helen Hopwood said: "It was very good. It was really busy all over the site and there was a lovely atmosphere. We had fabulous weather as well, and it's the type of event which tends to be quite driven by the weather."
