The big melt causes more travel misery

Melting snow and rainfall caused travel problems on Sunday as rivers around Belper burst their banks.

Ashbourne Road through Belper and Blackbrook was closed due to flooding by Plains Lane.

A flood warning was issued for the River Amber at Amber gate and Bullbridge. Meanwhile, the River Ecclesbourne flooded onto footpaths and Snakes Lane and levels rose on the Derwent.

Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service appealed for motorists to stop driving through flood water after rescuing two cars on Monday morning.
