Transformer-style car to train fire crews
A TRANFORMER-STYLE car which will be used as a training rig for Derbyshire fire services has been launched.
The bespoke vehicle uses hydraulic motors to rotate the front and features a removable side and foldable roof and will be used to train firefighters from all over the county in freeing casualties from road traffic crashes.
University of Derby students designed the car after being challenged by Derbyshire fire watch manager Mark Burnham. He said: “The car is looking fantastic and the opportunities it gives us for training are endless.”
The Toyota Avensis, which was donated by Toyota. based at Burnaston. in Derbyshire, will be exhibited at the university before being put to use.
Chief fire officer and chief executive of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue, Sean Frayne, said the car would be extremely valuable.
