This aerial view of the World War One poppy memorial currently growing on the Chevin was captured by town councillor John Nelson. Cllr Nelson, leader of the authority, hired a plane to get a bird’s eye view of the tribute.
He said: “I was challenged to find a site adequate to display WWI in huge letters. I was very fortunate I found a very friendly farmer in Mr Jordan, of Chevin Farm, who gave us permission to create the design in his field. Councillor Dave Fisher went on to the hillside to measure it out, the mayor, Deborah Biss and her team of volunteers dug the outline and then the farmer sprayed it and in future it will be ploughed and poppies set.”
