Tuneful send–off planned for Reg

The funeral of Britain’s oldest man and former Belper teacher Reg Dean will take place on Wednesday, January 23.

Reg, who passed away aged 110 last week, will be remembered at St Mary’s Church Wirksworth, at 12pm.

The Belper-based Dalesmen male Voice Choir, which he founded, will sing Reg’s favourite hymns before and during the service.

The supercentenarian and former minister taught at the former Herbert Strutt School during the 1950s and 60s.
