Warm welcome for frozen food store

Belper's former Woolworths store will re-open its doors as Iceland this month.

The frozen food chain will open in the town on Thursday, July 9.

More than 40 jobs will be created with the opening of the new store.

The building has undergone extensive refurbishment since the branch of Woolworths shut its doors at the beginning of January.

The company was forced to close after the chain went into administration at the end of last year.

Iceland area manager Neil Calder said: "We are delighted to be opening our new store in Belper. We are pleased to be able to contribute to employment in to the town.

"Our range of frozen, fresh and grocery will add greatly to the food shopping choice in Belper."

Belper mayor Cllr Norman Bull will officially open the store.
