Warning over doorstep conmen

A police inspector has issued a warning over con-artists who pose as doorstep sellers to trick their way into homes.

Inspector Russell Dakin, of the Community Safety team in Amber Valley, said people should ask to see a person’s pedlars’ certificate and use a door chain.

He said: “While we don’t want to scare people unnecessarily, we are asking people to take precautions.”
