Trading standards is warning Belper residents and businesses about an email cancer scam.
Officers from Derbyshire County Council have received reports from across the county that a rogue company is forwarding people messages making claims about their health.
The aim of the scam is for recipients to download the test results from the attachment provided and make an appointment to see your GP.
By clicking on the attachment this will either obtain the recipients personal details or infect their computer with a virus.
A spokesman for Derbyshire Trading Standards said: “Scams are now evolving to give people the impression that emails are from a legitimate source. If you receive an unexpected email purporting to be from your local council, bank, police, NHS or other official body, asking you to click on an attachment or link, please do not. “
