Water bosses say sorry over burst water pipe trouble

A burst water main caused issues with discoloured water in the Horsley Woodhouse area.

Problems started on Friday and Severn Trent engineers cleaned pipes in the area to remove sediment over the weekend.

Residents reported orange and yellow-coloured water and on Sunday night bottled water was delivered to homes in Horsley Woodhouse and Stanley Common, although the company said tap water was still safe to drink.

In a letter to residents, general manager for operations Steve Witter said: “I’m sorry that you have experienced prolonged periods of discoloured water - I appreciate problems like this can be a real inconvenience.

“I hope we didn’t cause you and your family too much trouble.”
