'We will not be intimidated,' say Red, White and Blue organisers

ORGANISERS of the controversial Red, White and Blue festival have said they will not be intimidated by violent and extremist protestors

Hundreds of anti-fascist protesters are expected to attend an organised rally opposing the event in Codnor tomorrow.

But BNP party members said they were not concerned about the backlash to the event, which is now in its tenth year.

Alan Warner, who owns the land at Codnor Denby Lane where the festival is being held, said: "We've got nothing to hide here, there's nothing untoward going on. There's not going to be any trouble. If anyone comes back drunk or swears in front of the kids they'll get kicked off.

"It's a family event. It always has been. These are nice people here."

Last year 33 people were arrested at the protest for breach of the peace.

This year party members said they had been threatened with violence by opposition groups.

BNP party leader Nick Griffin, who was helping to set up the site, added: "People are entitled to protest but they must do peacefully. If there is any trouble it won't be to do with us."

Thousands of party members are expected at the three day event, which runs until Sunday.

Along with a political marquee, where speeches and debates will be held there are also stalls from BNP groups around the country, and activites for children.

John Kimberley, spokesman for Amber Valley Campaign Against Racism and Fascism, said: "Local people are supporting the protest on August 15 and believe it should be peaceful and hopes to get the message across. The BNP are not welcome in Amber Valley."
