Weather prompts a flurry of Lens entries

editorial image

The wintery weather has been the main focus of inspiration for entries into our Life Thru the Lens competition this week.

Among those getting out amid the white stuff to take snaps for our competition were Clive Slack who submitted a shot of a snow covered set of steps in Crich Lane Woods.

Sandra Bull also sent in a collection of frosty scenes taken in her garden in Bargate and Emily Sian’s shot of a train travelling along a frosty track is one of our two featured pictures (right) this week.

The winter beauty was not the only thing snappers were keen to capture however. Derick Spencer, of New Road, submitted a picture of a black headed gull in flight taken on January 5 in the River Gardens.

We want to see pictures which get to the heart of what the Belper area is all about, in your opinion. We want you to show us how beautiful the town and surrounding villages really are.

It could be the history behind the mills, the community spirit which brings the Strutts Centre to life, or a fun event being held in the River Gardens. The limit is your imagination!

Winning this competition could be a dream come true for any amateur snapper wanting to become that little bit more proficient at their art — because of the fantastic first prize.

Up for grabs is a £300 SLR digital camera.

Second prize is a digital camera worth £100, while third prize is a pair of free designer glasses at Specsavers.

Whatever you choose as your inspiration, make sure you get your entries in to be in with a chance of winning.

You can submit up to 10 entries, with the winners to be determined by our judges. The pictures must be your own work and not be computer manipulated.

Entries can be sent by email to editor@belpernews.co.uk in jpeg format or hard copy to 8 Heanor Road, Ilkeston, Derbyshire, DE7 8 ER.

However you send your entry you must include, your full name, address, and day and evening contact phone numbers. Be sure to tell us where you took the picture too.
