Lunch treat for elderly Amber Valley residents

ELDERLY people in the Amber Valley area received a treat when they were taken out for a festive lunch by their Safer Neighbourhood officers.

Residents of Horsley and Kilburn joined in the fun and enjoyed the meal at the cafe in Tesco in Heanor.

PC Anna Welberry, PC Mick Shaw and PCSO Meikel Miller were the escorts, and they were also joined by Gaynor Bentley from Amber Valley Housing.

PC Welberry said: “Everyone enjoyed having a nice meal out.

“We ran a similar trip last Christmas and we work with the more senior members of the community throughout the year, giving them an opportunity to chat to us in a relaxed environment.

“As well as a chance to talk to local police officers, Gaynor, from Amber Valley Housing, also attended the lunch to answer any questions or concerns.

“We feel that this personal contact with older members of our local community is very important as it means that residents can talk about any problems they may be experiencing and we can provide information and reassurance about the community.

“We would like to thank the staff at Tesco for their excellent service and the lovely food.”
