A FORMER Idridgehay man will spend Christmas in prison after pleading guilty to sexual activity with a child.
Steven Pike, 42, who now lives in Herefordshire, admitted sexual activity with a child when he appeared at Derby Crown Court yesterday, December 13.
His victim, who was in court to face him, was a girl aged under 16.
She cannot be named for legal reasons.
Family and friends who were with her shed tears as the charge against Pike was read out.
Pike, who fired his barrister not long after arriving at court at 10.30am, was then refused bail and remanded in custody.
He will be sentenced next month and was told he will be sent to jail.
The incident happened on May 16, 2010, although Pike had denied it until his latest appearance at court yesterday.
The court heard that Pike knew his victim was under the age of 16.
He left Derbyshire not long after the attack and had been on bail since late summer 2010.
The judge said he was refusing bail this time because he feared Pike might not turn up for sentencing.
The court heard that Pike was of previous good character and had only a public order offence in 1994 against his name.
