Man jailed for 33 months for causing death of Stanton woman

A man has been jailed after he was found guilty of causing the death of a 64-year-old woman by dangerous driving.

Nikolai Garbutt, of Tregaron Close, Oakwood, was sentenced to 33 months at Derby Crown Court on Wednesday, March 28.

Garbutt, 46, was driving a Volkswagen Golf along the A515 at Biggin on the morning of November 23, 2010 when he decided to overtake the articulated lorry he was driving behind.

He tried to overtake as Christine Fielden was pulling out of a junction, colliding with her Renault Clio.

Mrs Fielden, of Stanton-in-the-Peak, died at the scene.
