a REMARKABLE couple from Belper are celebrating an incredible 70 years as husband and wife.
Harold and Lilian Nash got married on January 25, 1941, at St Peter’s Church in Belper.
The happy couple, who live on Chestnut Avenue, celebrated their platinum anniversary with 80 guests at a party on Saturday, January 22.
Harold, 91, from Derby, and Lilian, 90, who is Belper born-and-bred, met in 1939 at a roller skating place in Belper that had just opened.
They have four children, Peter, Christine, Maralyn and Jackie, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
But what is the secret to a happy marriage? “Patience and a good sense of humour,” said Lilian.
