Families of soldiers who fell in the two World Wars are being urged to contribute to a commemoration project.
The plea comes after a wooden memorial plaque was salvaged from Sawmills mission following concerns that it might be lost when the building was put up for sale.
Now, Bullbridge & Sawmills Area Civic Society are holding a ceremony to re-dedicate the memorial at Sawmills Village Hall and are hoping people will help provide a short history of the 14 people listed.
June Ward, Committee member of the society, said: “We hope to have a little history of each person named on the memorial and have already gathered some details and hope to gather much more.”
The re-dedication will be performed by clergywoman Val Hart on Thursday, November 7 at 7pm and everybody is welcome. The names on the plaque are as follows: WWI –H. Boden; E. Boden; A.C. Hinton; J. Murphy; F. Rodgers; H. Rodgers; J. Rodgers; C. Wain; J. White. WWII – F. Hall; A. Jackson; C. Ray; J. Smith; C.
