SCOUTS from Belper were “elated” after successfully completing an 11 -hour expedition to gain their challenge badges.
The 1st Alton Manor Group members planned their own route and cooked at least one meal during the camp at Tansley Wood Scout centre and Drum Hill Scout centre in Little Eaton.
The challenge counts as part of their Chief Scout’s Gold Award - the highest award a Scout can achieve.
The routes chosen varied but all were around 18 miles.
Assistant Scout Leader, Richard Henshaw, said: “Some groups were out for almost 11 hours, but all showed real emotion at the finish, partly from blisters but mostly through just completing what was a very, very tough challenge.
“They can now all wear their badges with real pride.”
