the man described as “basically the bank in Belper” is retiring after 42 years with Lloyds TSB.

David Hibberd, 60, who is based at the TSB branch on King Street, is closing the till on his banking career.

He started with the company in July 1968 and has worked in Belper since 2002.

Milford resident David, who bows out on May 31, said: “Of all the branches I have worked at, I have enjoyed Belper the most. The customers and staff have been fabulous.”

A keen Stoke City supporter, cricket and horse racing fan, David was not sure of his plans for retirement, but joked: My wife Kate has lots of plans for me. She has a great long list of jobs for when I finish!”
