New book showcasing Belper’s history

Belper’s Triangle, just before the Belisha beacons and zebra crossings were added circa 1935. In those days motorists were able to turn on to the Ashbourne road outside Christ Church.

The Jubilee Clock Tower of 1898 can be seen behind the Pyms Solicitors building. The old South Mill is hidden by trees.

This was one of several photographs which failed to make the final selection for a new book of images showcasing Belper’s history, ‘Belper From Old Photographs’ by Adrian Farmer, which will be published in November.
