THE chairman of the Friends of Babington Hospital in Belper has announced his retirement from January after 20 years in the post.
Ray Asher is stepping down and means the Friends are now looking for a new chairman.
The Friends, formed in October 1956, are volunteers who raise funds to provide services and equipment for the hospital by running a trolley shop, holding an annual garden party and car boot sales. Since 1992 they have raised over £200,000 to provide equipment for the wards, a new conservatory and televisions for the patients.
