DELIGHTED youngsters from a pre-school in Belper celebrated the arrival of the Chinese New Year with a sumptuous buffet.
The children from the Ladybird Pre-School were welcomed to Ming’s Court Chinese restaurant in the town on the big day on Thursday, February 3.
It was part of a day of Chinese-based celebrations for the children, who were aged three and four years.
In the morning, to fit in with it being Chinese year of the rabbit, the children met some baby bunnies.
They were also given some chocolate coins, which is a Chinese tradition, and had their faces painted.
Then, at lunchtime, Lance Pang, who is manager of Ming’s Court, opened up the restaurant exclusively for the children and their parents.
Beth Woodfine, the pre-school manager, said: “It all went fantastically well. The restaurant did an excellent spread and we are very thankful to them for that.
“The children absolutely loved the food. There were some sticky fingers and faces!
“We also displayed some of the children’s Chinese-themed artwork in the restaurant. They learned lots about Chinese culture.
“It was a full day of Chinese celebration and the children now have a little bit more understanding of what Chinese New Year means.”
