‘Olympics’ at school

DENBY’S John Flamsteed Community School has worked with primary schools in the area to stage a mini-Olympics event this week.

More than a hundred children aged five to 11 from primary schools took part in the event held at John Flamsteed School on Tuesday, June 28.

It was part of the school’s ongoing work under the Healthy Schools initiative.

Students and staff from John Flamsteed were joined by youngsters from nearby Denby Free, Horsley, Kilburn Infant and Nursery, Kilburn Junior and Street Lane on the day.

They took part in different sporting events as part of the project.

This year’s event was supported by nearby Denby firm Deb Ltd, said a spokesman.
